King Charles III Coronation

The Secret Society of Hertford Crafters produced an amazing celebratory yarnbomb in Hertford and Ware to bring joy during the period of King Charles III Coronation on 6th May 2023.

The Society installed Coronation-themed Postbox toppers to Hertford and Ware with 26 toppers in Hertford and 11 in Ware.

There were 5 key themes: Coronation, Celebration, King Charles, Community, Conservation

The imagination of SSOHC members knows no bounds ……...

We had Crowns, Thrones and Castles, Champagne, Afternoon Tea, metres of Bunting and small scenes of people meeting together for neighbourhood parties. King Charles's interests were also represented with him at Balmoral, his garden at Highgrove and sailing. Our local communities and volunteering could be found with a nod to Mudlarks, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance (our charity for 2023) and even Yarnbombers who bring so much joy to everyone. The representations of symbols of Countries which make up the community of the UK were crafted and also the wider Commonwealth Community. Masses of trees and flowers, and the King's concern for conservation and our planet were shown and we couldn't possibly have left out King Charles’ Patronage for the Campaign for Wool which he helped to found in 2010.

We also yarnbombed the Priory Gates in Ware with a large golden King Charles Crown, Cypher, red, white and blue flowers and flowers representing the 4 UK nations: Roses, Daffodils, Thistles and Shamrocks.
